Xbox Reportedly Planning Major Layoffs As Internal Memo Warns “This Cannot Continue”

Image
Microsoft’s Xbox division anticipates significant layoffs in July, potentially affecting around 1,000 employees. Following financial struggles, the company plans to reduce budgets, reassess its strategy, and reintroduce exclusive games. Microsoft’s Xbox division is reportedly preparing for another major round of layoffs, with Bloomberg reporting that cuts are expected in July, shortly after Microsoft’s fiscal year ends on June 30. The exact number of people affected is not currently known, although The Verge reports that rumours of around 1,000 layoffs have been floating around. The Verge also says the cuts could potentially include a studio closure or changes to Xbox’s studio lineup. Microsoft has not officially announced layoffs at the time of writing. However, an internal memo from Xbox CEO Asha Sharma and chief content officer Matt Booty has now been published by Xbox, and it paints a fairly grim picture of why the company is heading into what leadership is calling a busines...

Today’s Nintendo Direct saw a massive announcement made by Nintendo; The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is being remade, and it’s coming out this year. Unfortunately, Nintendo decided to give us absoluteluy no other details. Even the trailer didn’t provide much to chew on – just a few seconds of a young Link snoozing happily. Amazon All But Confirms 007 First Light Sequel, But It’s Unclear Who Will Publish It

Image
The sequel to 007 First Light has prompted confusion after Jeff Gattis’s statements about its publisher. He aims to clarify that while partnerships are strong, future developments likely remain with IO Interactive. The story surrounding a 007 First Light sequel has become a bit messy, as comments from Amazon’s Head of Gaming, Jeff Gattis, seemed to indicate future titles in the series would be published by Amazon. This got fans worried that IO Interactive might not be developing, either. Now, Gattis is trying to clean the story up a little. Simon Cardy of IGN had the opportunity to interview Gattis ,  and tackled the subject head-on. “First of all, let me set the record straight for you,” said Gattis. “I did not confirm that Amazon Game Studios is publishing the next one. Did not say that. So unfortunately, it got picked up, and once it runs, it runs. No, IO’s been great. They’ve been great partners. In fact, I was over there visiting them in Copenhagen a couple of months ago...

Accidental Upload Shows Gears Of War: E-Day Was A PS5 Game Until The Last Minute

Image
The Xbox Podcast mistakenly revealed Gears of War: E-Day as a PS5 title, contradicting Jeff Grubb’s claims of Xbox exclusivity. Aaron Greenberg asserted the decision was made a month prior, igniting social media debates. If you felt like we needed proof that Jeff Grubb’s comments about Gears of War: E-Day being made an Xbox exclusive were last-minute, we now have it. In a hilarious cock-up, the official Xbox channel accidentally uploaded an episode of the Xbox Podcast. Why was it an accident? The podcast contains a clip of Gears of War: E-Day, which clearly lists PS5 as one of the platforms. Some clever people over at ResetEra captured proof before the episode was hastily taken down, and then probably burned to ashes before being stomped on repeatedly. Well, they actually just made it private. But that’s less funny. You might recall that just before the Xbox Showcase, Jeff Grubb proclaimed that he had learned Gears of War: E-Day wasn’t coming to PS5 anymore, and that the decision...
